Re: “Durham signs on with federal immigration enforcement

Now a battered wife may fear being deported for calling the police and protecting herself and children. While the idea is that those not arrested would not be processed - it is a slippery slope. The whole idea that NOW is the time to send the undocumented people back is pure bull and window dressing. Undocumented people are less likely to commit crimes and take crap all the time for fear of being deported. Now this is just one more obstacle they have while supplying cheap labor, paying taxes with no benefits and no vote. The feds are luring city's into this by promising money. Once again undocumented people are bought and sold at a huge financial savings and moral bankruptcy.

Re: “How to wrap your head around the pregnant man

In my book biology does not determine gender. While the American Heritage Dictionary uses biology: The sex of an individual, male or female, based on reproductive anatomy. Marian Webster Medical Dictionary uses the appropriate indicators of gender: the behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically associated with one sex The 2nd definition makes more sense to me. Most of the people we consider men or women never show us their reproductive organs. So we treat them and they act (for the most part) in accordance with their appearance. Hence the phrase "be a man" Does one ever counter that by saying "but I have sperm!" I'm sure most people would never know Beatie's anatomy unless he told them. The easy path is to stay rigid and say he is not a man. That way people don't have to think about the implications of a man having a baby.
