Deicide, Belphegor, Blackguard, Neuraxis, Pathology

When: Thu., Feb. 17, 7 p.m. 2011
Price: $25-55
Mixing the legendary with the upcoming, the American with the international, the five-band "God Is Dead—To Hell With God" bill seems to be one of the year's premier death metal tours. As the first satanic death metal band, Tampa's Deicide has been central to many metal controversies with their anti-Christian message. They have not been deterred, though. They continue to write brutal death metal and perform with unrivaled intensity. Austrian blackened-death metal purveyors Belphegor, meanwhile, have run high on demonic lyrics since the early '90s. Folkish death metallurgists Blackguard add their own Viking spirit, while the tech-death band Neuraxis showcase their skills in marathons. Newcomers to the metal scene, Pathology, open. Tickets to the 7 p.m. show are $25, or $55 for VIP. —Jonathan Newman
