Re: “Can reissues stretch fans too thin?

And this article, slamming Sebadoh for trotting out their old hits and not giving us anything new, runs in the SAME ISSUE with Mr Currin's endorsement of an impending Ted Nugent concert.

Perhaps Lou just needs a bow. Or maybe Jason could go meat protein crazy and start waving around an AK-47 on stage?

Just "Kill it & Grill it", Grayson. Enjoy rockin' with the Nuge! & remember when you're there, not everything is a fucking classic.

Re: “Can reissues stretch fans too thin?

"pictured on the Bakesale album cover", I meant... sorry, it's late. And it was a good show.

Re: “Can reissues stretch fans too thin?

So, to be clear:

1. After 10 years or so Sebadoh took a break to do other things, then reformed and toured. All without releasing much if any new material - choosing to reissue their old stuff instead
***What a couple of selfish jerks. Lou. Jason. The nerve.

2. New music fans today aren't buying new music.
***Right. I'm with you. But how can I blame Sebadoh for this?

3. Sebadoh, by re-releasing their back catalog, is at least partially responsible for this "new fans not buying of new music" situation we have now.
***Wow, those bastards. Threatening our promising new musicians with their ugly Harmacy reissues - crowding them out of the market with the epic success of Sebadoh back catalog sales. What gives them the right?

4. The free market will speak and then squash this sort of unnecessary activity anyway because, "perhaps art works best as commerce" and will choke out the weeds (Freed Weeds, in this case).
***I did not see that coming. (It would seem like Sebadoh is exactly the wrong band to trot that line out for...) but, OK, sure. The market. I'm still with you...

***Soo, Harmacy will tank, thanks to the market, and yet will still remain a threat to our underbought new music anyway?!?
Whatever, we'll sort that out later, it's just so nice to have a scapegoat.

***Now I don't want to just call them names, how can we punish a couple of indie rock gold diggers like Jason and Lou? Should we picket? Perhaps mass mailings to old tiny record labels everywhere?
Hey, here's a thought, lets run a nasty piece in the Independent the week before they come to the Cradle - right when they're touring to support their NEW album! That'll teach 'em. Hit em right in the wallet. What have they done for us lately?

As an aside: that little kid fishing around in the toilet (pictured on the Harmacy album cover) might be a better metaphor for whoever wrote this column of yours.
