Re: “Jason Harrod

Bravo, David McKnight--cannot agree more.

The musical reviews by Grayson Currin are puzzling and pathetic. Unfortunately, they tell us more about the editor's personal problems, which show up as acidic and cynical commentary, rather than helpful criticism that answers the question: Who would or would not want to see this show?

Opinion is expected, but "don't be a jerk" would be my criticism of Currin's bile parading as musical commentary.

I was in a Chicago-based, college punk band called Dungus Mangulaneous--we deserved to be panned by musical reviewers, but were oddly successful. Through that band, I was lucky enough to play with Brian Funck, who later became half the Harrod-Funck duo. Jason Harrod has been working hard, building an international fan base and winning awards for his music for nearly 20 years. He is very well-respected, much-loved by his fan base in North Carolina and elsewhere, and a wonderful person.

Award-winning singer/songwriters don't deserve this. Truly bad musicians don't either. Basic respect for humanity demands more than the IndyWeek is providing with these trashy reviews.
