David B Dollar, Kamara Thomas

When: Wed., Dec. 4, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $5
Durham's David B. Dollar is an indie pop crooner. His propulsive singles come draped in cozy fuzz but are built with the sort of piano melodies The Fray might use and with the kind of choruses that might lure Adam Levine to spin his chair around on The Voice. Kamara Thomas isn't nearly so catchy, but her easygoing folk-rock doesn't want for sincerity—an occasional issue with Dollar, who seems appropriately keen on selling something. Thomas' words are colorful, and she dispatches her rumbling croon with conviction. —Jordan Lawrence
