Darrell Newton Foundation Benefit: Preacher Stone, Driver, The Occasionals, D for Darrell Jam, Monika Jaymes Band, Ramble Jam

When: Sat., Aug. 1, 7 p.m. 2015
Price: $15-$20
It doesn’t often seem like artists are very valued in the States. Working musicians, for example, are often simply screwed if they get sick. (No, rock clubs don’t offer health insurance to performers.) The Darrell Newton Foundation, though, steps up, paying medical expenses for musicians in need. The young organization has done so for eight musicians in three years. Saturday’s fundraiser aims to keep that number growing. Headliner Preacher Stone makes itself quite comfortable in the middle ground between Skynyrd and Pearl Jam, and Driver prefers ’80s metal and classic rock. —Corbie Hill
