Danielle Howle & Firework, Emily Musolino

When: Thu., Oct. 10, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $6-8
Danielle Howle is a creative wild child. In a quarter-century journey that began with late '80s Columbia, S.C., college-rockers Lay Quiet Awhile, she's opened for Fugazi and Dylan. Her earthy alto possesses a woodsy grain that makes it pretty like a faded summer frock, but a fierce PJ Harvey-esque bite lies in wait. Though she's mostly a country-folkie these days, she rocks out, too, with a Southern gothic grit reminiscent of Michelle Malone. Last year's terrific New Year Revolutions offered a groovy, roots-soul collaboration with psych-funksters Firework Show; they join her tonight. With Emily Musolino. —Chris Parker
