Soprano and UNC-Chapel Hill voice professor Andrea Edith Moore has conceived and commissioned a fascinating new song cycle built on Southern storytelling. The piece includes music by Daniel Thomas Davis (who recently finished a visiting appointment at Duke University) and texts by Jeffery Beam, Allan Gurganus, Randall Kenan, Michael Malone, Frances Mayes, Lee Smith and Daniel Wallace. Multimedia elements come from photographer Elizabeth Matheson and the American Folk Art Buildings collection for what promises to be an immersive world premiere. —Dan Ruccia
