Daniel Higgs, Zomes, Hiss Golden Messenger

When: Sat., Aug. 20, 9:30 p.m. 2011
Price: $6

Four months after these ex-Lungfish acts last visited the Nightlight, they return, this time without Swedish post-punkers Skull Defekts backing Daniel Higgs. Which means that we could get almost anything from him. He's equally likely to launch into long acoustic instrumentals, sermonize reams of half-sung poetry or do something even less definable. As for Asa Osborne, aka Zomes, we know what's in store: simple organ melodies backed by Kraut-like drum machine. The biggest mystery might be which man's set will be more hypnotic. Both are all about mesmerizing, and both hit that mark every time out. —Marc Masters
