Danay Suarez

When: Thu., Oct. 29, 7:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $10-$29
Given the recent efforts of UNC and Duke, the global reach and impact of hip-hop have been on fine display this year in the Triangle. The return of Cuba’s Danay Suarez marks another high point in the curriculum, as her outspoken advocacy for her home (including her magnanimous defense of Jay Z’s visit there) and her role as an emissary for it have affirmed the music’s ability to push past language barriers. There’s deep soul to Suarez’s best work, which radiates the warmth of classic R&B. —Grayson Haver Currin
