Dana Sachs

When: Wed., March 6, 7 p.m. 2013
Price: Free

Wilmington author Dana Sachs, whose books include If You Lived Here and The House on Dream Street, is promoting her newest novel, The Secret of the Nightingale Palace. A recent widow finds herself dragged back to life by her estranged grandmother, who gets her to drive across country to deliver a collection of Japanese art to the grandmother's friend in San Francisco. Remember this formula: Quirky older people + road trip + potential for heartwarming almost always = novel. It doesn't work as well for movies, which is why Trouble With the Curve with Clint Eastwood and The Guilt Trip with Barbra Streisand both underperformed. Zack Smith
