Re: “Why does the right wing worship Ayn Rand?

For someone as inconsequential a person as Crowther maintains that Ayn Rand was, Crowther doth complain too loudly. For years I'd seen Paul Ryan as a brilliantly fresh breath of air. But I always wondered how he stayed clear of the religious right kinds of issues that immasculate most Republicans. Now I know. Bravo! Its also fortunate that he's stayed clear of the Ron Paul libertarian nuttiness and stayed on solid grounds economically. If Paul Ryan and the rational, limited government aspect of tea partiers are enough to get Crowther into an AynRand full-tilt mouth froth, then they must be doing something good to have hit such a nerve. Is Crowther trying to out-do Ayn Rand with the steaming rage he's displayed?

Re: “Julia Boseman won't back down

So what? Its an undeniable fact that some people are attracted to their own gender. This is not a moral state of existence any more than all humans are morally tainted by the "Original Sin" of all of us having a common genetic male and female human ancestor. I probably disagree with most of Julia Boseman's political positions, but the fact that she's not sexually attracted to men is not something she needs to apologize or back down from.

Re: “Palin, creationism and other red meat

Why limit evoluton to being taught alongside just creationism? Why not teach the Wizard of Oz or talking snakes as alternatives too. Obviously Palin knows very little about evolution or she wouldn't advocating pairing it with the teaching of nonsense. Where and when did the fossils of the Burgess Shale come from; how were coal and oil formed, and how did our atmosphere become dominated with oxygen instead of CO2? Seven days is not the answer. Learning about science is. The modern world needs candidates who know about science instead of "gimme that old time religion".
