Re: “Wake DA candidate failed political test with state employees association mailers

I've had good interactions with both candidates. Boz has tried a number of high profile jury trials in the last three years. And he was involved in the prosecution of James Crouch. That's true. But if you think about that jury trial experience, two of the murder trials - Stepp and Cooper - were sent back for new trials by the appellate courts. And a third, the Amanda Hayes trial, resulted in a second degree murder verdict where Hayes is now being tried by Texas on a disposal of a body charge. Colon Willoughby, as the office matured, tried fewer and fewer trials. When he came into office, he had comparatively little trial experience. The point of a DA is not trial experience. A DA needs good judgment - to know which cases to fight, and which cases to resolve - and needs to be a good leader of people, either naturally, or through experience.

Bob,

Great reporting. It would be, in all fairness, nice for you to shoot me a link as I reported this issue first.
