Daddy Issues, Shitty Boots, Wahyas

When: Fri., Oct. 24, 9 p.m. 2014
Price: $5
Greensboro garage-punk outfit Daddy Issues continues the surf-pop revival and makes this consciously retro style its own. Rather than ride the cute nostalgia at the heart of many ’50s and ’60s-inspired rock upstarts, Daddy Issues riffs on sexually liberated pop-rock. “I get my baby so hard,” vocalist Lo Davy brags. Greensboro scene-mates Wahya’s bring deliciously demented, caveman-simple psych-rock with lyrics like “Won’t you take me/to the coast/drink tequila/and fuck a ghost.” Shitty Boots finalize a decidedly uninhibited bill. —Corbie Hill
