Culture Club

When: Tue., Aug. 11, 7:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $35-$65
Culture Club frontperson Boy George might have one of the most recognizable MTV-era visages, but his band’s grip on the pop charts was relatively brief. Their sparkling debut, Kissing To Be Clever, came out in 1982. They reached omnipresence with “Karma Chameleon” a year later. Their 1984 full-length, Waking Up With The House On Fire, was rushed and critically maligned. It’s a fame trajectory more suited to the Internet age, although Culture Club has the advantage of its back catalog—the rave-up “Church Of The Poison Mind,” the sulky “Do You Want To Hurt Me”—in standing tall among its remember-then brethren. —Maura Johnston
