Criss Cross

When: Fri., Feb. 18, 8 p.m. 2011
Price: $5 ($3.50 for students)

Tony Curtis made his film debut in this 1949 film noir starring a young Burt Lancaster and future Munsters star Yvonne De Carlo as the femme fatale. Lancaster reteamed with his director in The Killers, Robert Siodmak, for this tense tale of a daylight heist; the film was reworked considerably from its original version when producer Mark Hellinger died during production. The result was an LA noir with a killer love triangle and enough double crosses to require a scorecard; it was remade in 1995 by Steven Soderbergh as The Underneath. Get your noir on with this Universal Studios Archive print, which starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5, $3.50 for students and members of the museum, Galaxy Cinema and Cinema, Inc. Independent contributor Laura Boyes curates this series. —Zack Smith
