I don't know if I'm quite ready to write him off. I think now that everyone's digi-digging, he's started to get out there in the physical world and dig. If you check out this youtube video of him plundering NoLa for bounce music, it's about as real-world as music discovery gets.

And he was largely responsible for the surge in bounce music's popularity after making that trip, when he released "Express Yourself." That song featured a bounce artist native to the scene, which I liked; it felt like a head-nod as opposed to a rip off.

Moombahton, Major Lazer and Riff Raff are pretty clear examples of him working the internet, but when he makes moves like he did with bounce music, produces songs for Kpop artists or signs baile funk acts, he's showing a willingness to look for music where most of us just won't look. That kind of attitude will keep him, or anyone for that matter, relevant.
