Community Music School Benefit: The Gravy Boys, The Johnny Folsom 4, The Nasty Habits

When: Thu., May 28, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $10-$35
Community Music School is a Wake County nonprofit that provides low-cost music lessons, instruments and instructional books to underprivileged youth. Its “Three Band Night” benefit returns with another fine trio of area roots acts. Local favorites The Gravy Boys employ traditional acoustic instrumentation and tight harmonies to craft “twang-pop,” which leans on bluegrass, country and folk alike. The Johnny Folsom 4 pays tribute to Cash classics, while The Nasty Habits’ homages to the bottle—like “Drink You Off My Mind” and “Blood, Sweat & Beers”—come via honky-tonk and Southern rock hybrids. —Spencer Griffith
