Re: “I thought my baseball card collection had value. It did, but only to me.

I've been collecting Baseball,Basketball, Hockey and Football cards since I'm a kid and never stopped!!
I'm 40 yrs old now so just imagine how many cards I have by now, probably over 1 Million.

Here's the truth coming from me a true collector.

If you collected any sports card between the years 1990 and 2000 the truth is yes, there not worth anything to anyone. They have been mass produced in those years and the fact that there not worth anything today will never change in your life time either.

Now, earlier card than 1990 in any sports are worth looking into, Beckett price guide for any sports is the guideline price for any card on the market today. If you see that you have a card in the Beckett price guide that is worth $20, well if you post it on Ebay, you'll probably fetch about $3 to $5 for it if you dont overcharge for shipping.

Older cards than the year 2000, are also very collectible. Many of these are limited (ex: 049/100) meaning only 100 of these cards exist on the planet. If you factor in that in less than 10 yrs from now, there will be double the people on this planet, than just means even more people seeing your auctions on Ebay and seeing your ads on Craigslist etc.

One last thing, selling a collectible card on Ebay or elsewhere, before you do sell it, check and do a search on Ebay for the exact card but that has been graded by PSA. Most of the time having spent about $20 to get a card graded by PSA will sell the same card for alot more $$ than if it was not graded.

I can keep going on about this subject but have to leave some space for others here.

This hobby is not dead, it's sleeping at best, but will awake much stronger than before, Guaranteed!
