Re: “City Council Calls on Durham to “Resist Bigotry,” Recommit to Inclusive Values Ahead of Jordan Peterson's DPAC Show

Tsk! Tsk! Thought immigrants were banned from the US. Seriously, Peterson is the new "darling" of the right. He has created a niche for himself among those who want to control the narrative. His mantra: don't use politically correct language. Don't talk about racial, sexual or gender I.D. Peterson abhors the use of the phrase "white privilege." He says he hates "nationalism" and "ethnic pride" from those on the right. It seems Peterson wants to chose the words used by people--like the word police. He is full of horse-hockey. He is making money and a name for himself being the digital age contrarian. Peterson is unseating and reviving Ayn Rand.

Re: “Donald Trump and the Banana Republicans

Banana Republicans need to stop. Trump is a two year old throwing a temper tantrum because he lost Hope Hicks? The attack and firing of Andrew McCabe is beyond stupid. Where is IG report? Did McCabe really lie? Will GOP call for a probe of Jeff Sessions who failed the CANDOR TEST during testimony before congress.

Take a look at what Trump ignores to suit his purposes. Here are correct affiliations: Robert Mueller is a Republican. Rod Rosenstein is a Republican. Andrew McCabe is a Republican. James Comey is a Republican. Jeff Sessions, who looks like he was "following orders" of #45--is breaking the Fifth Amendment and Civil Service regulations. BTW, Trump's right wingers tried to change a slew of rules to turn government workers into partisans.…

Re: “The SBE Will Turn Over Some, But Not All, of the Information the White House’s Voting Integrity Commission Wants

Let's start with what we know. Kris Kobach, Vice Chair of the Commission, is running for governor of Kansas in 2018. He has been using the so called voter fraud commission in his campaign materials. Now a complaint has been filed against Kobach for violations of the Hatch Act. The Hatch Act makes it illegal for executive branch employees to engage in activity to gain political advantage. Kobach was tapped by Donald Trump because he is angry Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes. Trump wants Kobach to track down alleged widespread voter fraud that does not exist.

According to data analysts and other researchers, Kobach has a history of throwing legal voters off the rolls, based on last names. Most of the voters deprived of the right to vote were those who normally vote for the Democrats.

Here is what we don't know or understand. Why is the NC State Board of Elections giving up personal information about Tar Heels? Here are my concerns: My Social Security number is sacrosanct. My political affiliation(s) serves what purpose? Would that knowledge make me a target of some evil-doer? Is there a stated time limit on when or how often I vote? Numerous newspapers and digital outlets have questioned the validity of the methodology used by Vice Chair of the Commission, Kris Kobach. One data expert called Kobach's research "childish. " Stats showed he scrubbed 1-in-6 Latinos, 1-in-7 Asians and 1-in-9 Blacks because of common last names.

Has the NCSBOE asked Kobach to review and replace our voting apparatus, which assures everyone of a vote? The N&O said the Board was satisfied with the overall "integrity" of North Carolina's voting process in 2016 despite media reports of possible Russian hacking of VR Systems software. I am distressed the NCSBOE might breach the covenant of secrecy for all voters. I also fear my vote may not count, if the state remains wedded to old, exploitable technology.

What I know is the Trump/Kobach Commission is a hammer looking for a nail.

Re: “Just Because the President Is a Scientific Illiterate Doesn’t Mean Climate Change Isn’t Real

Now why would anyone believe a man with FAKE orange skin, a FAKE hair weave and an incurious mind? His claim to fame: bankruptcies, gaudy hotels, cheating charitable groups like St. Jude's Hospital for sick children. No. 45 is a malignant narcissist who is using America like an ATM to benefit his family.

Coal mining jobs are not coming back. Covered wagons are not coming back either. Natural gas and renewables have decimated coals market share. Business math is driving the move to gas and solar.

Trump blames China which is investing $360 billion into renewable energy. During his campaign he accused China of stealing American jobs. He and his daughter produce their products in China. His son-in-law's family is selling visas to rich Chinese at $500,000 a pop. Trump is an ignorant, thin-skinned, hot mess who has borrowed money from Beijing and Russia's state bank. He thinks Americans are stupid, illiterate or both.

Re: “A Reality-Show President Enters the Theater of War

If bombing Syria and Afghanistan boosts Trumps popularityexpect more. Blitzing and shelling is the GOP modus operandi. The Republicans are tied to the military industrial complex. Ronald Reagan went into Lebanon, but lost 241 Marines to a suicide bomb in Beirut. Reagan needed to boost morale. He invaded the little island nation of Grenada purportedly to save 600 American medical students. The UN condemned the invasion as a violation of international law. The list goes on with HW Bush, GW Bush.

Here it is 15 years later and Trump is trying to bully allies into his Cowboy fight in Syria, Afghanistan and possibly North Korea. Are Americans ready for WWIII?
Trump is crazy. Generals love WAR not peace. Boys and military toys will get our kids killed to avoid Russiagate.

Re: “Five Things We Want to See from New Governor Roy Cooper

Power certainly did not devolve to the people under McCrory and the NCGOP. The right wing was too busy undermining the US and State Constitution. The NCGA moved to enshrine itself forever without a public hearing or input. Roy Cooper must challenge Phil Berger and Tim Moore and the rest of the GOP cabal. They are kleptocrats who are supporting a boorish, uncouth autocrat who believes he can set policy with Tweets.

Re: “Resolutions for Living in Trump’s America in 2017

How is it the country clubbers, gated community billionaires and trust fund babies got to use the word "elitist?"

The real story-- the so called job creators (GOP) did not want to spend money to train workers for the digital age. The bosses wanted low-wage workers. Didn't want to pay health or pension benefits. Owners closed factories. Left town for overseas.
Complacent workers in rural areas did not take advantage of government programs to retool, learn new computer/digital skills. The revenue base of towns dwindled as rural kids moved to cities for jobs. They didn't want to stay down on the farm, work in coal mines, steel mills.

Trump's pick for Labor Secretary Andrew Puzder, CEO Carl's Jr, couldn't be more anti-worker:
Speaking to Business Insider this year, Mr. Puzder said that increased automation could be a welcome development because machines were always polite, they always upsell, they never take a vacation, they never show up late, theres never a slip-and-fall or an age, sex or race discrimination case.

Donald pledged to drain the swamp. A BIG, FAT LIE. He's tapped three people from Goldman-Sachs. What about Wilbur Ross, Commerce nominee?
Ross owned a coal mine that was cited for more than 200 safety violations before an accident killed a dozen workers, and is a member of a secret Wall Street fraternity, where, clad in velvet slippers, he sang show tunes mocking poor people.

Once Trump voters find out they've been bamboozled maybe they'll start voting in their own best interests.
