Cirque Italia

When: Sept. 3-7 2015

This unique and, happily, animal-free touring circus is all wet. The stage is 35,000 gallons of water under a tent in Raleigh's Villa Latina Plaza. Aerial acts, acrobats, hoopers, contortionists, jugglers, clowns and other big-top types ply their trades among spouts and fountains. You'll hear someone sing Andrea Bocelli while upside down, see optical illusions from a laser-wielding performer and much more. Originated by an Italian circus heir who lives in the U.S., the show builds on fine old Italian circus traditions with a splash of Vegas flash; call it SeaWorld for humans. It's hard to imagine any spirit not being lifted by the spectacle. Unless you are Pagliacci. 7:30 p.m. Thurs. and Fri.; 2:30, 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Sat. and Sun.; 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. Mon., $10–$50, 3424 Olympia Drive, Raleigh,

919-704-8572, Howe
