Re: “Free parking is expensive

This whole towing business is inhuman. I frequently visit a friend who lives at Colonial Grand at Research Park on 400 Stone Lion Dr. A couple months ago they instituted a parking restriction for non-residents to only park in designated "Visitor" spaces. When they started the rule, there was a period of time where people got warnings instead of fines. After the first couple weeks they turned the whole business over to Chandler's Towing Service in Durham. I've been good, never a warning, until the other night I forgot to move my car to a visitor spot. The next morning I find my car booted and I'm told I have to pay $120 to unboot it. The tow company says they're just doing their job and the apartment manager says it's out of her hands now that the tow company is handling it. So no warning for my mistake. Wouldn't want those tow companies to go out of business for lack of income would we?
