Chuck Johnson, Ezekiel Graves

When: Fri., Aug. 14, 7:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $10
In July, Chuck Johnson—a longtime veteran of the Triangle music scene who relocated to California to study the stuff in school—released Blood Moon Boulder, his third and best LP of solo guitar music. On those six tracks, Johnson poises himself between sentimentality and anxiety, with guitar lines that suggest a storm beneath an often-placid surface. In fact, Johnson’s pieces often work as mirrors, projecting the specific emotions of the listener back their way. It’s a gift to have and to behold. Johnson makes his final Southern stop before heading back to the west. —Grayson Haver Currin
