Chris Titchner and The Swang Brothers

When: Fri., July 9, 5 p.m. 2010
Price: $5

"Moving Day," the title track from Raleigh singer/ songwriter/ acoustic rocker Chris Titchner's most recent release, is a song that anyone who's loaded a cardboard box labeled "Kitchen Stuff" into the back of a van can relate to. And Titchner's knack for grabby melodies will register with anyone who's ever loaded a disc labeled "Del Amitri" or "Freedy Johnston" into a player. Where Titchner's main influences tend to be from a decade ago, you need to travel back 30 more years for the sound of The Swang Brothers. The Carrboro trio celebrates the period when crooners like Conway Twitty and Dean Martin roamed the earth. Titchner starts at 5 p.m., with the Bros at 7 p.m. —Rick Cornell
