Re: “The Byrds' Roger McGuinn To Be Honored by UNC for Folk Music Preservation Work

Mr. McGuinn has been under appreciated when compared to many of his contemporaries. A good example is the success of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers who drew their influences from the Byrds. The follow up song to the Byrds second and last number one hit Turn, Turn,Turn, Eight Miles High was banned on radio unjustly by the Gavin Report. The report made false accusations of reference to drugs because of the word high in the song title.
It is nice to see McGuinn be recognized, he is a true musician and dedicated to his craft. And nice to see him honored for his work preserving music and not allowing songs and history to be forgotten!
