Chad Eby Quartet

When: Fri., Aug. 7, 8 & 10 p.m. 2015
Price: $5
Respected by peers including Branford Marsalis, Greensboro saxophonist Chad Eby is widely regarded as one of the area’s most authentic players and skilled arrangers. For this gig, Eby says: “We’re paying tribute to Ornette Coleman. It will be very tuneful and unashamedly swinging; call it joyful, even.” He should have no trouble making good on that promise, as trumpeter Brandon Lee, bassist Steve Haines and drummer Larry Q. Draughn offer assists. —Sylvia Pfeiffenberger
