Cesar Comanche

When: Sat., April 21, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $5

Cesar Comanche is one of the area's most unsung hip-hop artists. When he and 9th Wonder co-founded the Justus League more than a decade ago, neither of them guessed they'd be the patriarchs of today's N.C. rap family. While 9th's career is more decorated and renowned, Comanche's has been measured and masterful in its own way. The convergence of his experience as an emcee and his grassroots acumen has turned him into a reliable mentor full of priceless advice. Last October's Itch Remedy—a six-song, joint presentation with former Little Brother spinner DJ Flash—was a concentrated dose that reacquainted everyone with Comanche's corrosive, chiefly flows. Bo Jankans and Dan Datiles open. —Eric Tullis
