Cedric the Entertainer

When: Sat., Dec. 18, 8 p.m. 2010
Price: $40-88

Cedric the Entertainer has earned his moniker. Though he mainly performs stand-up comedy, he also has acted and written a book (Grown-Ass Man). Arguably his first big exposure came when he shared the stage with Bernie Mac, DL Hughley and Steve Harvey as one of the original "kings of comedy" in the 2000 film of the same name (filmed just down I-85 in Charlotte). He again acted as part of an ensemble in Barbershop two years later, and his voice can be heard on family-friendly animated fare such as 2006's Charlotte's Web and the Madagascar movies. —Sarah Ewald
