Cate Tiernan

When: Tue., Nov. 16, 7 p.m. 2010

I don't want to blow your mind or anything, but apparently love stories involving vampires are quite popular these days. I know, I'm as shocked as you are. And it seems the trend has gone local, with Durham's Cate Tiernan writing the young adult novel Immortal Beloved, which combines vampire romance with rehab. Nasty, a 459-year-old party girl who doesn't look a day over 18, realizes she needs to settle down and heads to a halfway home for immortals. Organic living does her well, as does the mysterious Viking Reyn. —Zack Smith
