Horror

If you're the sort who enjoys watching movies where both you and the movie try to figure out what the hell it's all about while you watching it, then here's an extremely confused, two-year-old horror flick for you. This movie follows a deaf art teacher (UNC-Chapel Hill alumna Kelen Coleman, pitifully covered in skimpy outfits throughout) relocating to a sleepy/creepy little town after the accidental death of her beloved kid sister and finding herself having to investigate the disappearance of a girl whose ghost won't get off the heroine's back. This movie spends two hours shifting its focus from supernatural horror flick to straight-up torture porn, as we also learn there is a serial killer on the loose turning gals into marionettes. You get the sense director Anthony DiBlasi (Dread) wants this scary movie to appeal to a lot of people; its chilling moments include intensely scored musical cues and heartfelt scenes. But the movie throws in so much (did I mention the serial killer disorients his victims by inexplicably throwing his voice?), you never get the sense that the movie knows what it wants to be. You almost wanna give the film props for attempting to be a horror movie with a soul. Unfortunately, by the time you get to the needlessly drawn-out final act, you just want it to be a horror movie with a point.

Director: Anthony DiBlasi
Writer: Scott Poiley and Bruce Wood
Cast: Kevin Alejandro, Kelen Coleman, Louise Fletcher, Rus Blackwell, Hank Stone, J LaRose and Amy LoCicero
