Carmen Rodgers

When: Sat., Sept. 26, 8 & 10 p.m. 2015
Price: $15
A few months before Dallas-raised R&B singer Carmen Rodgers appeared on the cover of The Foreign Exchange’s Tales From the Land of Milk and Honey LP as one of the electro-soul outfit’s new companions, she released her third solo LP, Stargazer. Supported at points by a 14-piece string section, it featured the sultry duet, “Charge,” with Atlanta soul beau Anthony David and warm reflections on life’s fables (“Camille Leon”) and love’s fairy tales (“Love Stories”). When Rodgers throws down, as she does on Milk and Honey’s “As Fast As You Can” or on Stargazer’s “Heartless,” she goes from dove to diva real quick. —Eric Tullis
