Re: “Orange County races

Your "reasonable priced drugs" and your meth lab (along with the increased violent crime and murder rates) are not the fault of law enforcement. You want to point fingers on that issue, point at 20+ years of Carl Fox as DA (now appointed judge), Judges Coleman (ret), Anderson, Buckner, and Barber. The police/sheriff kick in their doors, make arrest, and seize their dope and money. Your past and CURRENT court system gives them probation or minimal time and their money back, that is until the Feds get tired of it and step in or they screw up and cross into a county with a real court system.

I will say thankfully Woodall has stepped up more than expected after all the years under Fox and Scarlett is much more harsh on criminals than any judge has been in over 20 years.

Regardless, LEO's are not the "fix all" and "blame all" as so many of you think. Neither Pendergrass nor Birkhead will run the leaches out of Orange County. To many are fleeing from Durham and Alamance Counties where the courts are tough(er) and work with LEO's.

If your happy with Pendergrass then vote for him. If your not, vote for Birkhead or Parker. Just don't waste your vote on any of them thinking they're going to do anymore than whats being done. You want the drug issues, violent crime, and murder to drop? Make your voice heard when the judges are up for re-election.

(Didn't mean to rant.)

Re: “Orange County races

It’s amazing to me that even after the media broke the news of yet another scandal involving the Hillsborough Police Department, naming Clarence Birkhead and Zina Long (who answered only/directly to Birkhead) responsible, that people still support him.

Birkhead was under investigation for 6 months (source: Town of Hillsborough Press Release.) He “resigns” weeks before his lies are made public, not to mention also weeks from being vested in the State Retirement System. Per the town manager and mayor of Hillsborough, Birkhead and Long were solely responsible and Long’s employment will be terminated.

Now, I have been an anti-Pendergrass citizen of Orange County for a very long time and it pains me to complement him, but of the issues I have with him they are strictly based on his micro-management ways he runs his office. However, I have never read a media report where he or his deputies have been under investigation, involved in a scandal, ect.

Moving on to Parker. Aside from his lack of needed experience he has a (R) next to his name. We all know that in Orange County (R) = “No Chance In Hell” for being elected to any office.
