Mexico City has been the birthplace of many pop megastars. Camila, the duo of Mario Domm and Pablo Hurtado, is one example, having launched a steady stream of romantic hit singles during the past decade. Charts across Latin America have broadcast their resounding success, but even the hyper-famous Camila are not immune to the metastatic violence plaguing Mexico: In May, their equipment was lost when their bus was scorched during a narco-controlled traffic stop in Nayarit. They arrive with a moodier sound in tow, perfect for the overwrought, winged-eyeliner teenager in all of us. —Amanda Black
