Bulgaria -- A Fairly Dark Faerie Tale

When: Fri., Nov. 1, 6:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $5
Kamara Thomas wrote the libretto and co-wrote the music with Matthew Whyte, including songs by Gabriel Berezin, Emily Denton and Suzan Hurtuk. The Black Veils will perform the music while Durham Family Theatre director and storyteller Jennifer Justice narrates a tale that mythologizes the feminine creative experience. Two suicidal women journey to the fictional winterland of Bulgaria to search for a jewel to unleash spring. A chorus of protean women comments on the journey, sometimes from places within the audience. You're encouraged to wear your Halloween costume to the show to add to its splendor. —Chris Vitiello
