Who is the team at Studio B and BuildSense? Some call us environmentally responsible. Some call us green building experts. Some call us sustainability gurus. Some call us the poster child for the "All of the Above" fuel strategy. They're right. We are architects, designers, builders, craftsmen, contractors, professors, educators, students, advocates, activists, policy makers, parents, artists, authors, runners, kayakers, gardeners, chefs, brewers, travelers, volunteers, techies, building science geeks and more. Over twelve years ago we started designing and building smarter buildings because it's the right thing to do. Our mission is to transform American building and foster sustainable living.

We have been at the forefront of green building. We designed and built the first Green Certified home in North Carolina. We permitted and installed the first commercial reclaimed rainwater system for flushing interior toilets in Raleigh. We designed, permitted and installed the first plumbing manifold system in Durham. We designed and built the first US Department of Energy Builder's Challenge Home in North Carolina. We designed, permitted and installed the first commercial building mounted wind turbines in the triangle.

We practice what we preach. We are currently completing construction of our new office and fabrication facility at 502 Rigsbee Avenue in Durham. The building is on track for LEED Platinum Certification. This urban infill renovation features a roof mounted photovoltaic array and wind turbines for clean energy generation, a 3000-gallon rainwater catchment system for toilet flushing and landscape irrigation, a super efficient thermal envelope, high performance glazing, properly sized and oriented roof overhangs and sun shading devices, heat recovery ventilators, and a compressed natural gas filling station. Come see who we are. Join us at our new home for the Green Home Builders of the Triangle - Green Home Tour Reception - May 5th from 5pm to 7pm. We look forward to seeing you!
