BugFest | NC Museum of Natural Sciences | Arts | Indy Week
This is a past event.
When: Sat., Sept. 17, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. 2011
Price: Free

I am shocked and appalled to report that this year's BugFest, the free framily-friendly event about our favorite creepy crawlies, has chosen this theme as "Spiders." They're arachnids, not insects! I suppose you could call them "bugs" on a broad level, but I choose to be pedantic about this. Should you choose not to boycott this year's festival out of protest, you may enjoy such free events as "Roach Races" and a screening of the 1955 horror classic Tarantula (a photo-book of ARACHNIDS that scared me sleepless as a child), or puchase the likes of "Cricket and Crawfish Jambalaya" and "Mealworm and Chocolate Chip Cookies" at "Cafe Insecta" or even take a workshop in backyard beekeeping for $10. Okay, that all sounds pretty awesome. But spiders aren't bugs, darn it! By the way, the event's main sponsor is Terminix. —Zack Smith
