Brooklyn Rider, The Knights

When: Wed., Jan. 11, 7:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $15-35

The enthusiastic and exhilarating string quartet Brooklyn Rider makes another of its relatively frequent visits to the Triangle on the heels of their 2010 three-show stint known as the September Prelude. This year, they'll start Carolina Performing Arts' 2012 run with an original, a Mozart and an interpretation of "The Music of Roma." For the night's second half, New York's expansive outfit The Knights will play Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, a disappointingly conservative choice for an ensemble with such a broad repertoire and range of experience. Still, it's a classic for a reason. —Grayson Currin
