Bringing Broadway Home

When: Mon., June 21, 8 p.m. 2010
Price: $50-150

The smartest career move Clay Aiken has made in years might be his most recent: On Tried & True, his debut for venerable Universal imprint Decca Records, he's seemingly discarded Top 40 ambitions, instead covering standards like "Mack the Knife" and "Unchained Melody" and posing like a Mad Men extra on the cover. Tonight, at the "Bringing Broadway Home" benefit for North Carolina Theatre, he'll again evince his roots in classic entertainment that predate his American Idol run. Aiken performed in the theater's productions of Shenandoah and 1776 in the mid-'90s. He'll join fellow alumni Terrence Mann, Quiana Parler, Sharon Lawrence and Lauren Kennedy tonight to help the cause. —Grayson Currin
