Re: “Locally made sauces light up your BBQ

Dillard's BBQ sauce is a staple in my kitchen; as a local (sadly gone now) institution still selling the sauce, I think it deserves a mention

Re: “Gone missing: The country's conscience, brain and heart

Psst - the democrats spent just as absurd an amount of money, funded by their own billionaires and secret funds.

The real problem is the staggering amount of partisanship. It gets in the way of actual politics by dumbing down every issue into 'us vs them'. Partisanship makes every day part of the election cycle, where our representatives are too busy campaigning and worrying about re-election to actually work on making things better. Who writes bills ? Lobbyists. Who writes our budget and spending bills ? Lobbyists. Politics has devolved into a process where our representatives see how much pork they can add to a lobbyist-written bill, or what small bits they can excise. When we can get past 'us vs. them' enough to work on what's best for the country, when our representatives are the ones making the choices on legislation rather than the same companies' lobbyists, then we might see some positive change.
