Boulevards, T0W3RS, Hotline

When: Fri., Nov. 11, 9 p.m. 2016
Price: $12

Jamil Rashad of Boulevards reignites something of the seventies with his funky pop blend, whose fiery, unexpected beats land at a sweet spot between Prince and Earth, Wind & Fire. While Rashad's old-school stylings and dance moves and his expansive vocal range will get your heart racing, emotionally charged lyrics dig deeper than the dance floor: tracks like "Forgot to Mention" and "Sanity" dive into the complexity of human emotions. On the other end of the spectrum, the fun, direct "Move and Shout" will have you doing exactly what the title says. This hometown gig also marks the return of T0W3RS' electropop prowess—it's the band's first show in the area in over a year—with Hotline in the first opening slot. —Erica Johnson
