What is a movie star? Someone you would gladly watch in just about anything. Akshay Kumar certainly fills the bill. Waiting the draggy half hour or so for his star entrance, the plot whips up the standard masala formula: the good father (Mithun Chakraborty in the Mahatma's glasses) who disowns his teen son; the bad father (Danny Denzongpa) who takes him inside his criminal empire; the sappy younger brother and his love for a blank-faced bikiniwalli who has been promised to a villain's son, etc. But, when Akshay appears standing on a car driving inexplicably on two wheels singing his title song, all is forgiven. He runs, jumps, karate-chops, sings, dances, laughs and cries, all while wearing his signature outfit, a rainbow of Miami Vice-y linen jackets over long kurtas and designer jeans. When the last song plays two and a half hours later, one asks, already.
