Boom or Bust Presents Grindhouse Burlesque

When: Fri., Aug. 17, 10 p.m. 2012
Price: $10

If you've seen any of the performers on this bill do their thing, with their pulpy, theatrical routines often done to rockabilly, surf rock or some other sleazy, salaciously musical tune, you'll understand why doing a Quentin Tarantino-themed night just might be their most inspired idea yet. Nearly every soundtrack the filmmaker has done for his movies includes numbers that could be retro background music for a burlesque vet's stylish striptease. In keeping with the theme, these gals will also be performing as their favorite Tarantino character. So, while it's highly likely there will be ladies hitting the stage recalling Uma Thurman's roles in Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill movies, let's all keep our fingers crossed that someone will dress up as Salma Hayek's exotic-dancing Santanico Pandemonium from the Tarantino-written From Dusk Till Dawn and pour tequila down her leg into some lucky bastard's mouth. —Craig D. Lindsey
