Re: “A running tally of the money lost or made at this year's N.C. State Fair concerts

exactly, Jonathan...this piece does not take into account pretty much the entire P&L statement. Such as the cost of security, operating the arena for an evening or even just the production. Or, whether there are sponsorships for the entire series or just one show, or if the concessionaires had to pay a booth fee or if the concession sales are going towards the cost of the show or the overall fair...and, if so, what percentage? I just find it to be a bit of a red herring.

Granted, the music at the fair could use an upgrade for the more metropolitan (21st Century) demographic....keep in mind the fair attracts people from outside the bubble of the Triangle and they have a lot of people to try and please...but I don't think this is the right argument - with insufficient evidence.

Re: “Two views of ever-changing Hillsborough Street

The project managers on Phase II have estimated construction to be 18 months...NOT four years, like Mr. Smith alludes to in this piece. Maybe he should attend the next public meeting to get more facts (gasp!) from the people who will actually be doing the work.

this is using real simple math...for one you do not take into account the concession sales. My guess is they sold more than $2,420 at the concession booths.
