The structure of many championship have always bothered me, for the very reasons you listed. Actually BEING the player/part of the team that is the bull is far from a welcome feeling.

Plenty of food for thought. A few months ago, I had a similarly themed conversation with an auditor turned rasta (!). Reaching to support her "money is the root of all evil" claim, she used the whole pro-sports as modern day slavery analogy, which seemed a bit sloppy to me. I do, however, agree that the coach to player dynamic is incredibly exploitive. I appreciate your more deliberated analysis of the situation. I think the film "Sugar" did a good job illustrating the treatment of NBL players (bringing in the extra dynamic of "importing" athletes into question, perhaps, as well.)
