What’s better than a big band? An even bigger band—with triple trombones, to be specific. That’s the concept behind Bonerama, a brass-funk-rock sextet from New Orleans. In the same vein as Trombone Shorty, Bonerama takes the grungy bottom of a brass band—sousaphone and a trio of trombones—and adds a rock guitarist and drummer. The result is a slightly out-of-control processional sound that pushes hard while remaining danceable.—Chris Vitiello
