Re: “David Price, congressional Democrats to call for restoration of federally funded gun-violence research

The only reason that anyone would want to "research" gun violence is to ultimately end up with more gun control legislation. If they want research they need to simply look to the FBI statistics that clearly show that where there are more guns in the hands of the citizenry, fewer violent crimes are committed. It is in the FBI records. Where guns are strictly controlled as in most large metropolitan areas, most guns are in the hands of criminals who have free reign and don't give a wit about gun laws.

There are more than 20,000 gun control laws on the books nationwide and so far not one of them has successfully stopped one of these mass shootings. We lost 9 people in Oregon at the hands of a deranged shooter to which Obama was upset. But why has he said nothing about the nearly 400 deaths this past Labor Day weekend on our highways.

We need laws to limit the number of gallons that can be purchased to 10 gallons to reduce the chance that someone might fall asleep at the wheel. We need comprehensive background checks into anyone who wants purchase car to determine if they have ever taken a drink of alcoholic beverages. Cars kill people, every day. Vehicle violence needs to stop.

Guns are responsible for less than 500 deaths a year but they are responsible for more than 2500 thwarted attacks where a crime was averted because someone used one to stop a crime without even firing a shot. Vehicles kill over 40,000 people a year. When will the madness stop?
