Blues Traveler

When: Tue., Oct. 8, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $22-42
Even if you haven't thought about Blues Traveler since the group's 1994 breakthrough, Four, frontman John Popper's trademark tenor and signature harmonica remain immediately recognizable. Though that album's undeniably catchy singles "Run-Around" and "Hook" proved Popper and company have a knack for, well, hooks, the band's maturation during the last two decades means those pop sensibilities now slide into rootsy adult alternative territory, especially as the quintet has toned down its jamming tendencies. Blues Traveler has rarely made a consistent and strong album, but its unpredictable live sets explore the highlights of its discography while incorporating unexpected covers of '90s peers such as Radiohead and Sublime. —Spencer Griffith
