Bloodpheasant, Harris Hawk, Jesse Anderson Ainslie, The Maness Brothers

When: Tue., Feb. 17, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $5
Folk music and doom metal seem, at the surface, stylistically disparate, like trying to deliver a whisper and a roar in the same breath. But in recent years, bands like SubRosa and, to an extent, Baroness have united those sounds, fortifying their depravity by combining them. Add Rhode Island’s excellent bloodpheasant to that roster: Led by bewitching singer Shannon Le Corre, they slink to and spring from the darker corners of the soul. A shot of grunge agitation binds the distant ends of their sound, adding an energy that might otherwise be missed. —Grayson Haver Currin
