The Coasts of Carolina

Bland Simpson

When: Sun., Dec. 19, 2 p.m. 2010
As an author, musician and educator, Bland Simpson has spent most of his life celebrating the splendor of North Carolina. A professor of creative writing at UNC and a longtime member of the award-winning band the Red Clay Ramblers, Simpson also has found time to write several books uncovering the natural beauty of the state's coastal region. He'll discuss his newest book, The Coasts of Carolina, which is dripping with Scott Taylor's lavish photographs; it captures the vibrancy of the North Carolina oceanfront, sound country and interior shores beyond the barrier islands. The event begins at 2 p.m.; admission is free. —Christina Cass
