Black Lips, Tweens

When: Sat., Nov. 9, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $13-15
Atlanta hooligans THE BLACK LIPS are known as much for their antics as their music, which is a shame given how easily their simple earworms can ingrain themselves in listeners' heads. The quartet's raw, house-show-like energy matches its rowdy garage rock, flavored by a touch of psych-pop. Cincinnati trio and Frenchkiss signee Tweens—which accurately self-identifies as "nasty doo woppy"—is a near-perfect opener, trashing the cotton-candy sweetness of '60s girl groups with intensity and sass. —Spencer Griffith
